WHY YOU SHOULD BECOME A PROFFESIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Some good reasons as to why you should be a photographer are one its accessible. Throughout the recent years the equipment has become more accessible to the public. It is right at our fingertips. We can simply pick up our phones and play around with our camera’s settings. You can do it anywhere any time. You don’t have to wait for your boss to call you to come into work and use the camera or get hired for it, you can simply do it anytime anywhere no rules and how you’re suppose to shoot. It is current meaning so many people are looking for good photographers out there who are willing to shoot anytime and can come up with creative ideas. Because this generation is heavily influenced by social media; spots for new models, editors, and photographers are very popular now a days. You can be your own boss. If you plan to take pictures on your own you have the flexibility to chose what times you work from, your public imagine, your brand, your calendar, your clients, etc… Not only that but being a photographer can also mean having balance. You have the choice to work from home, editing images and sending emails, sleeping in, and saving money on travel costs. You can do anything you like. When it comes to photography there is no rules. It is a creative outlet whether you chose to photograph pictures of just cats or children in dinosaur suits there will be someone out there calling your photos a piece of art.

$10,000 B&H Photography Shopping Spree

I would like to for this assignment be a landscape photographer, so I would need equipment designed for that specific field in photography. The first piece of equipment I would buy coming in at $354.05 is called the “Benro Rhino Carbon Fiber Three Series Travel Tripod with VX30 Head” I would need this equipment because when taking landscape pictures you want a steady and clear picture to really capture all of natures beauty as well as I have really shaky hands. I plan to use it by standing it on rocks, or on the ground, and anywhere high up to take better full view pictures. The next piece of equipment I would buy is called “Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 FE Lens for Sony E” $499.00. I would need this because it is a wide-angled, wide-aperture lens for astrophotography and that is a part of landscape I would like to do. The next set of piece I would like to purchase it called the “Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens” coming in at $2,099. I would need this piece of equipment because it captures distant landscapes and isolating subjects. It’s a really nice camera that makes pictures have a very nice and clear touch to it, seeing every little detail you can. I plan to use this if I want to capture a lot of things in a setting all together and as well as isolating subjects making it the main subject. The next equipment I would buy is called the “Tiffen 95mm Coarse Thread UV Protector Filter” the price of $69.95. I need this because it will help to absorb ultraviolet light, reduces bluish cast of daylight, it’s a general protective filter that protects it from dirt, rain, and any things out there in nature, and its color core technology. I plan to use this anytime I am out shooting so I can always protect my camera’s lense incase of dirt, water, rocks, and anything gets into contact with it. “Lowepro ProTactic BP 450 AW II Camera and Laptop Backpack” $170.15 would be the next thing I would get. I will need it to carry all my lenses and camera as well as my laptop. Its even designed to carry one of the lenses I have chosen. I plan to use it by keeping everything I will need to go out and shoot and protect it, as well as carrying it with me wherever I go so I can take many pictures of all kinds while having my equipment ready with me. Lastly for my camera I would purchase the “Nikon D850 DSLR Camera (Body Only)” for $2,996.95. I think this camera would be a very good camera specifically for landscape because it has a phenomenal 45 MP sensor with capability to go down as low as ISO 64. It has been proven for its easy menu system, rich lens selection, excellent in-camera features, great weather sealing, and amazing battery life.

“VINTAGE “TIN TYPE”

A tintype, also known as a melainotype or ferrotype, is a photograph made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal coated with a dark lacquer or enamel and used as the support for the photographic emulsion. How I got to my vintage picture I used the app snapseed because I felt like it had better options but i used a specific frame, used a black and grey filter, made the picture more grainy, lowered the saturation, added drama to it, as well as giving it a grunge look.

Critique of Silver List Photographers

One of the photographers that caught my eye is called Jasmine Clarke. When I first saw their work, I liked how simple it was, yet a lot of the photos had a lot of emotions. Their work is very simple yet has a feeling that gives me vibes of living in a small community, everyone knows each other, everyone seems to be happy and living at peace with no worries there. I took a liking to their website format; it was nicer than the others I saw on the list. Simple and very nice on how it was constructed. http://jasmine-clarke.com/

The second photographer that caught my eye was ANASTASIA SAMOYLOVA. I really like their work because of how they put a lot of color into their art and photos, every single piece from them has a lot going on in them but it is ever a lot or too much. As well as sometimes when they take pictures, they add a second picture (item) to it. I believe they cut and crop a different picture and add it to their main photo to fit it in somewhere. I also really liked their website because of how organized it is, every piece of art and photography is put into their own category making it organized than most websites. https://www.anasamoylova.com/projects#/floodzone/

Social and Political Issues In Art

The reason as to why I feel the way I do is because I suffer with many severe mental health issues and because of the pandemic, my mental health has gotten stronger and it saddens me knowing there are teens and adults who cant afford a therapist or don’t have anyone to talk to or who are stuck in an abusive household. My art work isn’t intended to offend, its suppose to bring someone to mind that mental health is taking a toll on so many others (especially because of pandemic) that now we HAVE to pay attention to those in need.

Why is Photography So Important?

Photography has always caught my eye and how it has the capability of leaving such a big impact on so many people regardless of their situation and were they’re at in the world. Some ways how photography is important to me would have to be how traveling has always been something I’ve always wanted to do, and photography inspires you to travel more. In the future when I plan to travel everywhere I want to capture the beauty and culture of the countries and cities I will visit creating not only memories but creating a story to the places I’ve gone sharing them with everyone back home, knowing that I went there and experienced a whole new culture and life that I can take back home with me simply by just capturing a picture that conveys a whole story filled with emotions.

Another reason as to why photography means a lot to me is it captures issues we struggle with today and sadly for several years in the past. For example, the year 2020 we’ve had many protests regarding the topic on BLM and police brutality. Everyone knows it happened, what happened, and why it did. But what about kids and teens 50 years later or even 20? Without those pictures taken by people from the protest, the protest will be swept under the carpet as if it never happened. Those photos are physical proof as to how our history is being repeated and that it actually happened. By taking pictures we are able to pass it on to generations teaching them what we needed to do in order to fight for basic human rights and hopefully change the minds and ways of thinking for the new generation in order to stop history repeating itself.

CatNip For The Cat Soul

Sandy Skoglund Critique

Sandy Skoglund produces surrealist photographs by constructing intricate tableaux. She colors the set, places life size objects and subjects. This process for a single piece takes her months to finish. Once she is done staging the desired scene, she photographs it. Decades before photoshop, all of the same subjects you see on her photographs she hand makes carefully painting and sculpting them together. Skoglund has a great ability to add imagination to what is reality. She mixes the artificial with the natural and creates something she believes in. As well as creating fears people have to endure that makes them question the perception of reality. One of the art pieces that caught my eye is called “As Far As The Eye Can See” I really liked the shade of blue and the contrast to the green behind it as well as how it is leading off into a trail. You don’t know where it is leading you, but it makes you want to follow it and keep going.

My own Wassily Kandinsky Art

Wassily Kandinsky Critique

Wassily Kandinsky has a very unique, wild, and creative form of art. I really like how he puts all the different types of shapes, lines, and figures he can find makes a “mess” and can make it look like they all belonged together in the first place. The colors he uses really make everything stand out and get along together and some even tell a story. For example, one is shaped like a boat and another one of his art works looks like a door and a couple of people in an office. One of my favorite paintings of him where a house. The reason it attracted me was because it felt like home it felt welcoming as if I were already there once in my life. The second picture is the first one that caught my eye out of all his artwork. I don’t really have a reason as why, but it catches my eye.

Fav Photo from 100 List

The first photograph that caught my eye was a picture called “The Hooded Man”. This very interesting photograph is about the times In Iraq during the war in 2003. It wasn’t taken by a photographer; it was actually taken by a U.S. Army staff sergeant named Ivan Fredrick. When I first saw this photograph the first thing, I thought of was the KKK; I was very intrigued and ready to see what the whole post was going to be about. But it turned out to be about the 2003 war in Iraq with the Americans. I don’t know what the context of meaning is about this photography but from the looks of it, it seems to be a form of punishment or a symbolism of “even if I go down at least I fought for my country and my people while going done” at least that is what I think it is putting out there.

When I see that photograph it scares me, for some reason it gives me a paranormal vibe to it. Perhaps the black cone shaped bag and the Christ like figure gives off that impression. It makes me feel uneasy, unsafe, scared, and sad knowing the citizens of Iraq where invaded from the Americans suffering day and night.  I don’t know much about the war but what I know is they were tortured severely and held captive. It makes me furious knowing those people of Iraq were invaded by the Americans just because of politics. They bombed and killed innocent people, keeping them in jails, separated from their families.

IMAGE CRITIQUE
The artwork that caught my eye is called “Let Them Eat Cake” by Sue Coe. The first thing that caught my eye was the big scary man who was yelling at the woman rummaging through the dumpster. The colors and how Coe drew the people are very scary and dramatic. Because she is trying to address the corruption about poverty, capitalism, and the queen Antoinette from 1800’s of her disregard for the impoverished peasants. Five things that I liked and stood out to me the most were the big bold words that say “Let Them Eat Cake”, how red plaint splatters/represents blood, the people who look tired malnourished and scared, in the background there’s bombings some sort of explosion defining violence, and lastly the newspaper saying “Ronald Reagan’s $1000 a plate bash” I don’t know the meaning towards it but I have a feeling it has to do with his speech where he includes ‘1000 years of darkness.”
